Kona Dew

Kona DewThe Kona Dew is the second bike in the Kona Dew range.  Various features are common to other Kona Dew models, namely:-

  • A Kona 7005 butted aluminium frame with a nicely sloped top tube which gives you greater (and also safer) stand-over clearance and makes the Dew a unisex bike. Clearance and eyelets for mudguards and rack.
  • A triple chainset for maximum flexibility.
  • Six sizes to choose from.
  • Kona’s lifetime frame warranty.

Kona Dew features

The original Dew shows a couple of improvements over the entry-level Kona Dew City

The main upgrade is that you now get 24 gears in three slightly wider ranges, so giving you more options on hills or in traffic. The front derailleur is upgraded from Shimano Tourney to the somewhat better Altus unit for more secure chainring selection.

The Dew retains V-brakes, still Tektro, but neater and more robust MTB components. The handlebar is alloy, which should help a bit with the weight. In common with many manufacturers, Kona do not specify the weights of their bikes – understandable in a way, as it will vary between sizes. A bit of research indicates that the Dew range is pretty light however, around the 13kg mark on average.

These upgrades will cost you about £50 extra, but still keep the price at £400 for a really nice practical and stylish bike that should do all you want from a hybrid, on the commute to work or out and about over the weekend.

There’s a choice of colours for the Dew – black or a rather beautiful 2-tone blue (as pictured).
