Kona Dew FS

The Kona Dew FS stands to an extent separate from other bikes in the Kona Dew range. However it does have various features common to other Kona Dew models, namely:-

• A Kona 7005 butted aluminium frame with a nicely sloped top tube which gives you greater (and therefore safer) standover clearance and makes the Dew FS a unisex bike. Mudguard eyelets incorporated.
• A triple chainset for maximum flexibility

Kona Dew FS features

The Dew FS is the only model in the range to feature suspension. The front fork is a Suntour suspension unit, which is great for smoothing out the ruts (and city potholes!). It features a lockout so you can fix it for more stability at speed if you don’t need the travel – it saves energy too.

More shock-absorption comes from the suspension seatpost which will really take the sting out of badly repaired roads. You can see that the frame is modified as well, with even more slope on the top tube giving a more MTB look.

There are several other upgrades over the Kona Dew Deluxe . There are slightly lower gear ratios from the smaller chainrings, together with a further improvement in the quality of the front derailleur.

The model retains disc brakes, but returns to the Shimano units, as fitted to the Dew Plus. This helps to keep the price of the suspension and other upgrades to only £85 over the Dew Deluxe.

This seems to me to be great value if  a suspension bike is for you. After all, you don’t need to go off-road to experience the benefits of a softer ride!
